Dark Matter Leaders

The whole basis of the Dark Matter range is that the products feature tungsten, and this range of leaders is no different.

The Dark Matter leader range offers a wide variety of different types of pre-tied leaders, but the one thing that they do all have in common is that the fused material, that they are constructed from, is impregnated with tungsten collars to ensure that stays pinned to the lake bed and reduces the chance of fish bumping into it and being spooked by it.

This range of leaders now allows you to fish any of our lead systems/set-ups on a leader in a safe and very easy way – each leader features a fused loop at one end which can simply be attached to your main line loop-to-loop style. So no more fiddly knots, and as long as you can tie a loop in your main line (use a figure-of-eight for the best knot strength), you can use any of these leaders. You can of course use a conventional knot such as a grinner and cut that off should you need to remove the leader – loop-to-loop is quicker and simpler though.

Some of the range features the entire lead system, so all you need to do is attach it to your main line; clip on your hook link; attach a lead; and you’re ready to cast out! That includes both Heli-Safe and standard helicopter style; Hybrid Lead Clip; and QC Hybrid Lead Clip versions.

Others give you the versatility to use your own lead system components – such as running or inline lead set ups, including drop-off style; Heli-Safe System; and Leadcore Chod Safety System – but on a fused leader. This is especially useful if you are fishing somewhere that has a ban on leadcore leaders, as many fisheries do these days, but still want to use a short leader to pin everything down around your rig.

Not only are these leaders more fish-friendly in terms of ensuring that either the lead or the hook link can safely eject every time – they can’t become kinked like a leadcore leader can, due to the memory of the lead wire inside it, and which can impact on safety – but they also reduce the risk of scales being lifted, or fins split, during a fight, which can happen when using your main line all the way through to the hook link.

The material used to construct these leaders is tough and abrasion resistant, with very low memory – once stretched out after being taken out of the packet, they will remain straight – and a breaking strain of 30lb (in Europe they are available in 40lb breaking strain). All of the leaders are available in a choice of clear, weed, or gravel (there are also silt or clay versions of some of them), so you can choose one to blend in with whatever type of lake bed you are fishing over.

The leaders come in varying lengths – 1m, 50cm or 30cm – to reflect the type of fishing they are going to be used for. The Ring Swivel Leader for instance is available in all three lengths as it has multiple uses, whereas the Drop Off Inline Leader only comes in 30cm as it is aimed at those fishing drop-off inlines in solid PVA bags. You get one leader in each pack but they can be used multiple times and are easily detached from your main line – if you’re using them for solid bag fishing you will regularly be doing this anyway if you keep spare, pre-tied bags ready to go.

DARK MATTER DROP OFF INLINE LEADER

These have been specifically designed for use with drop-off inline leads, and are especially suited to solid PVA bag fishing – although there is no reason why they can’t be used for other types of fishing situation where you require this type of lead set-up.

Like all of the Dark Matter leader range it has tungsten collars impregnated into it to ensure it stays pinned to the bottom, and a fused look at one end to allow it to easily be attached to your main line.

At the other end there is a size 8 Ring Swivel, to allow you to fish it drop-off style by pushing the other eye of the swivel into the nose of an inline lead, and then attaching your hook link to the ring. You will need to add your own choice of inline lead and tail rubber.

The leader is 30cm long, which makes it ideal for solid bag fishing and on waters where longer leaders are banned. It is 30lb breaking strain and comes in a choice of clear, weed or gravel colour.

DARK MATTER HELI-SAFE LEADER

The Dark Matter Heli-Safe Leader is designed so that it can be fished with any helicopter style set-up, including chod rigs.

At one end it features our Heli-Safe System, and all you need to do it attach your chosen lead to that. It also incorporates the Chod Safe System, which is a safe way of fishing a helicopter set-up as it will allow your hook link to come off the leader easily, should your main line break. You can adjust how far above the lead you want to set the top bead of this system – depending on the depth of silt or weed you are fishing over – and with it coming in a choice 50cm or 1m leader lengths, it means it can also be used with chods. The shorter leaders are also great when fishing at long range as they will increase your distance, compared to the longer version.

Your chosen hook link is easily attached via a QC Ring Swivel – just clip it on and cover the QC part with a Dark Matter Anti Tangle Sleeve, and you’re ready to cast out.

The other end of the leader has a fused loop so that it can be easily attached to your main line, and it features tungsten collars along its length to ensure it stays pinned to the bottom. It comes in a choice of 50cm or 1m lengths, and in clear, weed, or gravel colour.

DARK MATTER HELICOPTER/CHOD LEADER

This leader has been designed for situations where you want to use a helicopter style set-up but don’t need to, or want to, drop the lead, and it can be used with either conventional hook links or chod rigs.

At one end it incorporates a Kwik Link, which you simply clip your chosen lead onto, and which is then covered with the Helicopter Sleeve which comes as part of the leader.

It also incorporates the Chod Safe System, which is a safe way of fishing a helicopter set-up as it will allow your hook link to come off the leader easily, should your main line break. You can adjust how far above the lead you want to set the top bead of this system – depending on the depth of silt or weed you are fishing over – and with it coming in a 1m leader length, it means it can also be used with chods.

Your hook link is attached to a Ring Swivel, and can either be tied/crimped directly to it, or you can add a Kwik Link to the swivel eye to enable you to easily switch between different hook links.

The other end of the leader has a fused loop so that it can be easily attached to your main line, and it features tungsten collars along its length to ensure it stays pinned to the bottom. It comes in a 1m length, and in clear, weed, gravel, silt or clay colour.

DARK MATTER HYBRID LEAD CLIP LEADER

This leader features a Hybrid Lead Clip at one, along with a Hybrid Tail Rubber, and allows you to fish any swivel lead of your choice in a safe, semi-fixed way.

Simply attach your lead to the lead clip and tie/crimp your hook link to the ring swivel which is integrated into the Hybrid Lead Clip, and you are ready to cast out.

The other end of the 1m long leader features a fused loop for easy attachment to your main line, and there are tungsten collars along the length of the leader to ensure that it stays pinned to the bottom. It comes in a choice of clear, weed, gravel, clay, or silt colour.

DARK MATTER QC HYBRID LEAD CLIP LEADER

This leader features a QC Hybrid Lead Clip at one, along with a Hybrid Tail Rubber, and allows you to fish any swivel lead of your choice in a safe, semi-fixed way.

Simply attach your lead to the lead clip and clip your hook link to the QC swivel (we would suggest using a Dark Matter Anti Tangle Sleeve to cover the QC part of the swivel) which is integrated into the Hybrid Lead Clip, and you are ready to cast out. The leaders come in a choice of 1m or 50cm, with the shorter length version being ideal when fishing at longer range, or if the water you are on restricts the length of leader that is allowed.

The other end of the leader features a fused loop for easy attachment to your main line, and there are tungsten collars along the length of the leader to ensure that it stays pinned to the bottom. It comes in a choice of clear, weed, or gravel colour.

DARK MATTER QC SWIVEL LEADER

This is one of the simplest leaders in the range and is aimed at people who want to add their own lead system, as it just has a size 8 QC Swivel at one end, fused onto a loop, and a fused loop at the other end, for attaching to your main line.

The QC Swivel will fit neatly into the nose of any inline lead, making it semi-fixed; or you can use it with some sort of running swivel lead set-up; one of our standard lead clips will also fit; or you could even use it with a Bait Up Method Feeder. Pretty much any set-up where you want this type of leader material and a way of using your own lead system, and quickly changing your hook link.

The QC Swivel means that attaching and detaching your hook link only takes seconds, and it is best used in conjunction with a Dark Matter Anti Tangle Sleeve.

It comes in a choice of 30cm or 50cm lengths, which mean that it is good for long range fishing and waters where longer leaders are banned, as well as for solid bag fishing if you don’t want to fish a drop-off inline. It comes in a choice of clear, weed or gravel colour.

DARK MATTER RING SWIVEL LEADER

This is one of the simplest leaders in the range and is aimed at people who want to add their own lead system, as it just has a size 8 Ring Swivel at one end, fused onto a loop, and a fused loop at the other end, for attaching to your main line.

The Ring Swivel will fit neatly into the nose of any inline lead, making it semi-fixed; or you can use it with some sort of running swivel lead set-up; one of our standard lead clips will also fit; or you could even use it with a Bait Up Method Feeder. Pretty much any set-up where you want this type of leader material and where you can use your own choice of lead system.

Then all you have to do is either tie or crimp your hook link to the ring on the swivel, and you’re ready to cast out.

It comes in a choice of 30cm, 50cm and 1m lengths, which mean that it is good for long range fishing and waters where longer leaders are banned, as well as for solid bag fishing if you don’t want to fish a drop-off inline. Or you can use a longer leader if you want more of a gap between your main line and hook link – where more of it is pinned to the bottom via the integrated tungsten collars, or you need a longer length of highly abrasion resistant material above your lead system. It comes in a choice of clear, weed, gravel, clay or silt colour.
