Black & Whites - Bite indicators (Bobbins)

The Black & Whites are more than just a bobbin, as every aspect of them has been well thought out and designed to the highest standards. These bobbins are a classic design, with a chain and flowing line clip, and as the name suggests, come in a choice of either black or white, with each having a crystal clear segment into which an isotope can be inserted, giving the appearance that it is floating in the middle of the bobbin. 

Far from being ‘just another bobbin’, the development team set out to produce a range of indicators that looked great and had unrivaled functionality. The line clip, for instance, is a thing of real elegance. With a couple of twists, either way, you can adjust the tension of the clip so that it will hold the finest of braids, or pop seamlessly off the thicker monos.

But, and here’s the clever part, the tensioning mechanism is hidden inside the bobbin body! Even when the additional weights are added, the tensioning mechanism works perfectly, thanks to the weight’s flat-sided internal bore.

The range includes small, lightweight versions, right up to the big boys; the X-Large size, which, when loaded with additional weights, is fearsomely heavy; perfect for wild waters with heavy tow, or big continental rivers (or, perhaps if you just love a big bobbin!). Tom Dove and Neil Spooner can often be seen utilising these X-Large sizes with additional weights on Monster Carp whilst seeking out those European carp on huge waters such as Lake Salagou.

Each bobbin comes supplied with a short or a long chain – 6in. or 9in. long and lightweight on the small size, or 3in. and 6in. on all of the other sizes - depending on how you’re are fishing them and how much of a drop you want on the indicator, as well as two different sized weights (each lazer-etched with how many grams they weigh) that can easily be added or removed as needed.

The new hockey stick system is genius. By flipping two magnets so they push against each other, the bayonet-style fitting stays put, even with the heaviest bobbins, fully loaded.

The clever, two-part body is crystal clear at the front, to allow the isotope (sold separately) to be visible from several angles. A small, high-viz screwdriver allows access to the isotope cavity, via a small, secure plug.

The Quick Release, Twist-Lock Hockey Stick enables you to add other manufacturers’ chains into the system if you require. This adds to your ability to adjust the Black and White bobbins for both practical and aesthetic purposes.
