We have some exciting new products about to hit your local tackle shop, including some terminal tackle which will help you to catch more carp.
This month we have several exciting and eagerly awaited new products being added to the Korda range, which will help you to catch more carp!
There are a couple of new items of terminal tackle which you will already have seen being used in various Masterclass and Thinking Tackle films to great effect.
Plus there are two new editions to the Kaizen Green range, with a rod specifically for floater fishing, plus a landing net with a two-piece handle.

Shot on the Hook weights
Ever since the Underwater film at Embryo Norton Disney was released, and anglers saw just how effective Danny’s version of the shot-on-the-hook rig proved to be, we have been inundated with requests to bring out something which makes it very simple and easy to use, and doesn’t involve having to whip pieces of braid, or similar, to the hook.
It has taken a while to get it just right, but finally the Shot on the Hook weights are ready to be released and will be in shops from this weekend onwards.

Three different sizes are available, so it can be used with all sorts of different rigs for pop-ups, wafter or bottom baits, where you want to make the hook point heavier to increase its chances of gaining an initial hook hold.
The Shot on the Hook is made from pure tungsten encased in a rubber moulding to hold it in place and also make it very easy to attach, simply by threading it over the hook point, and once in place the rubber grips tightly enough that it won’t move on the cast, but once the hook starts to penetrate it will slide round towards the eye and won’t impede that. They are also reuseable, and you simply crush the barb, slide it off, and then onto a new hook, with three different sizes – 0.3g, 0.4g or 0.5g - available in packs of ten.

Danny Fairbrass explained: “Nothing in recent years has made more difference to my bottom bait catch rate. I wanted to rush it out, but Damian and the product team out voted me to make something ‘special’. I’m very pleased to be overruled on this occasion as the end result is an easy to use and re use product that suits any kind of bottom bait or wafter rig, from plastic corn on a size 8 to a 24mm boilie on a size 2.”
Combi Multi Kickers
These Kickers have been designed in conjunction with Darrell Peck, specifically for use with his combi multi rig, but they do of course have other uses as well with any rig where you want a longer extension to the hook and the option to fish line aligner style as well.

You will have seen that in the past Darrell always used a piece of shrink tubing with this rig rather than one of our existing Kickers, and that was because he wanted a longer extension to the shank of the hook than that existing product could provide, so we set about coming up with the Combi Multi Kickers.
These kickers are great for use with our Wide Gape hook pattern, and as well as extending the shank, they can also be fished line aligner style by threading them on with a baiting needle.
They are made from soft rubber and are easy to slide on and off the eye of the hook, but still grip securely enough to hold the slip D part of the multi rig in place, whilst still making it very quick and easy to change the hook when you need to.

Two different sizes are available, to fit any of the Wide Gape range of hooks – or any other pattern – and with a choice of green or brown rubber, so match the lakebed and your other rig components.
Kaizen Green Floater Rod
This rod is built using the same high quality carbon used on the rest of the rods in the range, which offers fantastic performance for the price, and also has the same fittings and custom built minimalist look to it.
This 12ft rod is lighter than any of the others in the range, at 2.75lb test curve, and is perfectly suited to floater fishing, where you are often using light hook links or small hooks, and need something to cushion the lunges of a carp during the fight.

The Kaizen Green Floater Rod is extremely light, which is important when holding it for long periods of time, and is very responsive, which enables you to accurately flick out lighter controller floats.
But this rod also has plenty of backbone lower down when you need it, such as extracting a carp from weed, or keeping it away from snags during the fight, and you can confidently lean into the fish, knowing that the rod not only has enough power but also enough cushioning as well.
The fittings are what you would expect from a Kaizen Green rod, with a Sea-Guide TDG twin leg 40mm butt ring and 16mm tip; a low glare matt finish to the blank; a Sea-Guide DPS style reel seat; plus a Japanese shrink wrap handle with a flared end to it.

Neil Spooner, who has used the rod to land carp off the surface to 36lb so far, revealed: “I used the Kaizen Green Floater Rod for the whole of last summer and absolutely loved it! From using small Interceptors for close in work, right the way through to the 80g model at longer ranges, the rod can do it all.”
Kaizen Green Net – two piece, 42 inch
This landing net is exactly the same as the existing model in the range, with all of the features that makes it so good, but with a two-piece handle, rather than the standard one-piece 6ft one.
This two piece handle is very easy to push together and still has a reverse taper, with an overall length of 6ft, which makes it very stiff and responsive, with the lightweight carbon fibre used to make it also helping when it comes to lifting the net when a fish is over it.

The handle is also still naturally buoyant, and so will float on its own – no need to add a net float to it – and also has a stainless steel spike for securing it, via pushing it into the bank or lakebed.
This two piece version will be particularly popular with anglers who are fishing from a boat, and where a six foot handle can often be a hindrance, and where in many cases you will be able to net fish just using one section of the handle. Plus it will also find favour with those looking for a more compact landing net that folds down shorter than a standard one.

The spreader block is injection moulded, with an aluminium insert, and is very strong and tough, with an isotope slot integrated into it, and the arms of the net are easy to push into it, and also to get apart when you need to.
The net itself features carbon arms and a 42 inch green shallow mesh, which is just the right depth for netting a fish and leaving it to rest, but not so deep that it is prone to getting caught up on undergrowth or the lake bed. It all folds down neatly into a nylon stink bag.
