Spring is an ideal time to use adjustable zigs, as the fish start to wake up and are spending more time in the upper layers, and often it can get you a bite when standard bottom fishing tactics aren’t working. It can of course be deadly at any time of year, as long as the fish are up in the water.

It can also be an active way of fishing and you don’t need to spend time sitting around waiting for the carp to come to you, and if you spot fish moving around near the surface, then you can quickly cast some adjustables to them, which can result in a quick bite.

The big advantage of an adjustable versus a standard zig is that you are able to adjust the depth at which your hook bait is fishing, without the need to recast and cause disturbance. Plus on deeper lakes it makes it much easier to cast and to land fish, versus using a very long hook link on a traditional zig set-up.
