Rob Burgess goes to Crete Lakes to show you exactly his approach about big hit fishing !

When it comes to catching large numbers of fish in a session and getting the most out of your rig, Rob Burgess is an expert, and in this Big Hit Fishing Masterclass he reveals the tips and tricks that can make all the difference.

For this Masterclass, Rob is fishing the Crete lakes complex in France, which is known for producing plenty of big carp if you get it right, including huge fish over 70lb, and Rob has chosen to fish Lake 5.

He explains exactly how he starts a session on this type of busy lakes, and how he builds from there and learns throughout the week, in order to catch as many fish as possible - and in this case, that includes moving to an open area, because of the number of fish he's seen there and despite the fact that he's caught from where he started. This shows the difference between trying to catch a few fish and wanting to catch as many as possible.

He explains in detail how he approaches a swim and the type of spots he looks for, as well as how he baits spots, and how this evolves over the course of the session as he learns more about the times of day when bites are regular. This is one of the most important factors, as he doesn't want to be reeling or baiting at the best times for getting bites, which in this case happens to be the early hours of the day, and how he makes sure everything is ready the night before, even though he knows it will probably be some time before the fish return to his spots.

Rob also stresses the importance of making the most of these relatively small windows of opportunity each day, and of being as organised as possible to be able to get a new rig and the rod on the move as quickly as possible and hope to turn one bite into several successive bites.

He also describes in detail the rigs he uses and why he has set them up the way he has. He also focuses on his hookbaits and how, sometimes, small changes in colour or flavour can make a big difference. The mix he uses for baiting also plays a part, and he explains exactly what goes into it and why.

Rob ends up enjoying a great session, with some very big carp, and shows what can happen when you build your swim as well as you can.

Although this session was filmed on a French commercial lake and anyone visiting such a site can learn a lot - the tactics he uses work on a wide variety of waters - this Masterclass is also packed with useful information that will help you catch more carp, wherever you fish.
