Fishing: Darrell Peck Catches His 100th UK Carp Over the Magical 40lb Mark! | Korda

Darrell Peck's fishing has led to his 100th UK mirror carp over the magical 40lb mark!

Renowned big carp catcher Darrell Peck recently reached the incredible milestone of catching his 100th UK 40lber whilst fishing on a Korda Vlog shoot at the incredible Grenville. Many anglers would love to say they have managed to catch even 1 UK 40lb fish so to have caught 100 is seriously impressive… but where did it start?

Darrell's fishing achievements include catching various carp species, such as the common carp and the amur carp.

Darrell caught his first UK 40lb fish, fishing from the historic and iconic Yately Car Park lake in the form of a fish called CHUNKY. This was back in 2003 and being able to share the moment with one of his angling inspirations, Terry Hearn (Darrell is a self-confessed Terry Fan boy), made the capture even greater! Darrell's first UK 40lb fish was a domesticated variety of crucian carp.

Darrell went onto catch multiple other 40’s from the Car Park Lake including Arthur and the Dustbin before moving onto other lakes! Some of Darrell's other favourite fish that have broken the magical 40lb mark are fish like the Client and the Fat Lady. Darrell has also caught mirror carp and leather carp during his fishing expeditions.

Darrell has caught many incredible fish from all over the country and we have been lucky enough to share many of those moments on our YouTube channel. Some of the carp Darrell has caught were originally bred in fish farms.

On the build-up to the 100 mark, Darrell has spent some time at Grenville this Spring and managed to get to number 97 before our cameras joined him for the last session of the season. Grenville is famous for its long range and heavy baiting style of fishing but upon arriving, Darrell noticed the fish were all in close! Adapting to what he was seeing, he smashed it and went on to land multiple fish including 4 over the 40lb mark taking his tally to 101 UK forties! Darrell uses a variety of Korda fishing gear, including fishing rods, fishing lures, and tackle boxes.

Darrell's fishing expeditions have also included catching silver carp, which are known for their impact on natural resources. Darrell has said he will stop counting now but we know he will continue to catch them from wherever he goes next! Darrell's success is partly due to the selective breeding of carp species, which has led to the development of different forms such as leather carp and mirror carp.
