What is Tom Maker wearing this summer?
A detailed look at the clothing that Tom likes to wear when he is out fishing, and why he chooses those items
Tom Maker spends a lot of time out on the bank and what he wears plays an important part in keeping him feeling comfortable, so that he can concentrate on what he does best – which tends to be emptying venues and catching big carp!
Everything that he wears has been chosen for a specific reason, not only to feel good when he has it on and for it to be functional, but also so he looks great as well.

Here we take a look at exactly what Tom is wearing this summer, and what makes it so suitable for when he is out on the bank – or even away from fishing, socialising with friends, or out with the family!
T-shirts
When it comes to t-shirts, Tom definitely has a couple of favourites from the extensive Korda Clothing range of tees, which he not only likes the design of, but also the way they feel when he is wearing them.
You will often see him out on the bank wearing the black Dot Tee, which has a colourful design featuring lots of mini Korda logos, in various colours, repeated across the front of it.

He is also a big fan of the Tie Dye Tee, in the dark olive/black colour combination (also available in slate grey/black) and which has a funky look that is a bit different to a normal carp fishing t-shirt, whilst also helping you to blend in with your surroundings as it basically results in a camouflage pattern.
Both t-shirts have been carefully tailored so that they also look good on you and fit well – unlike some fishing t-shirts which look like they’re hanging off of the person – and they will keep both their shape and colour even after multiple washes and many hours of wear outdoors.

Both have a soft velvety feel to them, which feels great against your skin, with the Tie Dye one featuring a higher proportion of cotton in the fabric (80%, with 20% polyester – the Dot Tee has a 60:40 mix), which makes it especially good for the summer use as it is about as comfortable and breathable as you can get from a t-shirt, but without compromising its resistance to wear and how well it keeps its shape.
Shorts
When it comes to shorts, Tom has several different types which he likes to wear, but can often be found sporting a pair of the very popular Korda Kombats.
These are a great choice for fishing, or any other outdoor use, as not only are they incredibly practical and hard-wearing, but they’re also very comfortable as well.
The lightweight material is also durable as it is rip-stop, and even contact with things like brambles when walking through undergrowth or bark when climbing trees, won’t easily damage the fabric.

The Kombat shorts are also quick-drying, so if you do happen to have to go in the water, or even get them wet whilst photographing a fish, they will dry quickly. You won’t be short of storage space either, with plenty of secure pockets.
Tom pairs the Kombat shorts with one of the Korda Kwik Draw belts, which is made from webbing, adjusts to fit any waist size, and is quick and easy to fasten and unfasten.

At times he also wears the Jersey shorts, as they are so comfortable, being made from a loop-back poly cotton material, which has a tendency to wick moisture away from your skin and to leave you remaining cool and comfortable when temperatures soar. They also give your legs plenty of protection as they come all the way down to the knees.

In situations where he wants a shorter pair of short, including if he is going to be in and out of the water a lot, then the Quick Dry shorts are his first choice, in either black or burgundy.
They are very cool to wear, thanks to the 100% polyester micro fibre material, and feature a mesh inner layer, so you don’t even need underwear with them, and this helps ensure that they dry incredibly quickly if they do get wet. They are a good option as well as a pair of swimming shorts.
Hoodie
Even during the height of summer, at times it can still get chilly in the evenings, or first thing in the mornings, so you will need some sort of hoodie or jumper with you, even if you don’t necessarily need to wear it.
Tom is a big fan of our original TK Hoodie, which is still as popular today as when it first came out, and usually wears it in black.

This classic style hoodie is made from a 320gsm fleece jersey material, which feels really nice against your skin, and whilst it will provide enough warmth when you do need more than just a t-shirt on, at the same time you won’t feel uncomfortably hot, and the material will help wick away any sweat.
As well as feeling great, it also fits extremely well and is well tailored, with clever design features – such as the toggles to adjust the hood being in the form of integrated drawcords, meaning that when taking fish photos you don’t have to worry about the cords hanging down and getting in the way, like they do on most hoodies.
Hat
Tom isn’t a massive fan of hats – he even jokes about not wearing one so as to preserve his hair! – but there are occasions when he will put one on, either to keep the sun off of his head, or to aid visibility and cut out glare when looking for carp.
When he does wear a hat, it is one of the Korda Boonie Hats, as he prefers something bucket style rather than a cap.

Our Boonie Hat has a classic look to it, with a brim all the way round to protect your face and neck from the sun; as well as helping to keep glare out of your eyes without the need to shield them with your hand, such as when fish spotting; and even stops rain dripping down your neck if you do happen to get caught out in a heavy shower.
The hat itself is also water resistant, thanks to the waxed fabric that it is made from, and it can be adjusted for a good fit on any head shape or size, via a cord within the crown.
Sunglasses
Polarised sunglasses are one of the most important things that Tom carries with him for his fishing, given their impact when it comes to finding carp, which obviously increases your chances of catching one!
Sunglasses are a very personal thing, in terms of what suits certain face shapes – although is more down to how you think they look on you – and also how comfortable they feel, and everyone has different views on style.
For Tom, his choice is the Aviator model, which have been around ever since Korda first introduced the 4thDimension range of polarised glasses years ago, as he not only likes the way they look, but also how they fit and feel. He likes the matt black frames with grey lenses, which do everything that he needs them to.

The Korda Aviator polarised sunglasses are based on a classic design which is stylish and comfortable to wear, but the large lenses also give good coverage when looking into the water and trying to spot carp. The high quality polarised lenses not only reduce glare, helping you to see through the surface of water more easily, but also enhance contrast and colour, making it easier to spot carp, or even clear areas on the lake bed.
