Polarised sunglasses are an essential part of your carp fishing gear
Choosing the right polarised sunglasses to suit your needs and style
A pair of polarised sunglasses is one of the most important things you can take fishing with you and can be the difference between catching and a blank.
Polarised glasses cut out surface glare on water and allow you to see deeper down into it, as well as with higher definition, making it much easier to spot carp than with the naked eye, and especially so when the sun is in an unfavourable position.
Korda polarised sunglasses are essential for fish spotting
This means that when the carp are swimming through deeper down in the water you are more likely to spot them with a pair of the Korda polarised sunglasses on, plus they will also help you to find spots as well at closer ranges, such as clear areas amongst weed or small sandy patches on gravel in the margins, where carp have fed previously.
All of the Korda sunglasses feature high quality polarised lenses – even on the two ‘Standard’ budget models in the range – plus frames that have been designed to last and be able to withstand constant use out on the bank.
As well as being practical, style also matters, as does how comfortable a pair of sunglasses feels to wear, and the Korda range includes a wide variety of different models for any taste and face shape.
Which colour lenses are best
When it comes to polarised lenses, whilst they will all help to some degree when it comes to seeing further into the water, certain lens colours will work better in particular light conditions.
Yellow lenses are a great option in lower light conditions as they enhance whatever light is available; whilst grey lenses are very good at cutting out direct sunlight and high levels of glare, without changing the colours that you are seeing; the real all-rounder is a brown lenses, which will work well in any light conditions. So, if you are regularly going to be fishing in very varying light, it makes sense to carry a couple of different pairs of glasses, with different lenses, so you can really get the best from them, and see as far into the water, and in as much detail, as is possible.
All of the Kordas sunglasses are supplied in either a case or a cloth bag, which doubles up as a lens cloth, in order to store and protect them when they aren’t being used.
Korda Classics
The Classics have been a very popular choice ever since we released them, with large lenses that gives good coverage for your eyes, and a frame shape that not only fits well but will always be in fashion. As well as the original version, there is also now a Classics Standard which is even more affordable, although it does have thinner lenses and only come in a brown lens version. For those who wear prescription glasses, you can even get a frame only version and have your own lenses fitted to it.
Korda Wraps
Everyone is different in terms of what they like to wear and what suits them, and whilst the Wraps MK2 glasses are completely different in terms of how they look, they perform to the same high level as the Classics.
The Wraps MK2 – and the Wraps Standard which is even more budget friendly – are based on the classic design that is often associated with water and winter sports, such as skiing, and fit securely on your head and there is no danger of them slipping off when you are looking down into the lake. Yellow or brown lenses versions are available in the Wraps MK2, and the Wraps Standard comes with a brown lens.
Korda Aviator
The Aviator model features a large tear-shaped lens, as you would expect from a pair of sunglasses with this name, and have stuck to the design which made them so popular originally with pilots, and then with the wider public. Not only do they perform well but they also look good and come in a choice of black or grey lenses.
Korda Shoreditch
Our Korda Shoreditch polarised sunglasses are named after the fashionable part of London that shares the same name, and they really look the part, as well as being very comfortable to wear. At the4 same time though they definitely aren’t fashion over functionality, as they perform really well out on the bank and the brown lenses offer plenty of coverage for your eyes when looking into the water. A frame only version is also available so that you can have your own prescription lenses fitted to it.
Korda The Ronnie
The Ronnie glasses is another model that looks incredibly fashionable, whilst at the same time having a very well thought out design, with the frame at the bottom of the lenses having been reduced to maximise your vision when looking down into the water.
They also feel and look a bit different to the other models, thanks to the wooden arms which are not only strong but also more sustainable, and they come in a choice of brown or grey lenses.
So whatever style of sunglasses you prefer, one of these will be perfect for you, and the best way to find out is to head down to a Korda stockist near you, or you can order them directly from the Korda Clothing website.
