If you need to keep your hands warm in colder weather then it makes sense to wear a pair of gloves.

But if you are also relying on being able to still use your hands efficiently to complete angling related tasks, such as playing a fish, then they need to be more than just warm, and have to incorporate a degree of functionality that is suitable for carp angling.

So, Korda set about designing the perfect pair of carp fishing gloves, that not only will keep you comfortable on the bank in any weather, but are also highly functional, plus of course look the part as well and fit in with the rest of our stylish range of clothing and accessories.

What we came up with was the Polar Mittens, after extensive testing out on the bank, which we believe are the ultimate carp fishing gloves, and they’ve proved to be incredibly popular with our customers.

These mittens combine superior functionality with excellent thermal insulation properties, long lasting durability, and providing enhanced grip, whilst allowing your hands to breathe comfortably and with a highly practical design suitable for even the most extreme winter conditions.

The Polar Mittens are warm and breathable

When it comes to winter carp fishing gloves, warmth is a very important factor, and the Polar Mittens feature special thermal insulation that locks in heat.

These mittens have a luxuriously warm teddy fleece lining that creates a cozy microclimate and which envelopes your hands and feels really warm and snug, so if you have had your hands bare and they have got cold, they will warm up and feel snug inside these gloves.

One important factor in keeping your hands feeling warm and comfortable, especially during prolonged wearing of gloves, is that they are able to breathe properly, otherwise you will sweat and your hands will get damp, and that eventually leads to them feeling cold and uncomfortable.

How durable and comfortable are they?

Any fishing clothing spends a lot of time being used outdoors and in environments that will test it to the limits.

A pair of fishing gloves will be used for all sorts of things whilst being worn, such as pushing your barrow round the lake, setting up your bivvy and carrying luggage, or even getting rid of undergrowth and branches that might be in your way, plus they will likely get wet at some point.

The Korda Polar Mittens have been designed to withstand all of this and are durable enough to last for many sessions to come, thanks to the water resistant material used for the part that fits around the back of your hands and wrists, that is used in conjunction with a harder wearing material for the palm and fingers.

This harder wearing material has been added to the part of the mittens which come under the most stress and also into contact with things that could cause wear and will ensure that they last much longer.

Are the Polar Mittens practical when out on the bank?

Not only are these mittens warm, breathable and hard wearing, but they will also allow you to get on with many of the tasks you normally do without necessarily having to even take them off – obviously if you need to tie rigs, cast, or anything else where individual fingers are needed that isn’t the case.

The material used on the palms and finger section is not only hard-wearing, but it achieves this without restricting flexibility, so you won’t feel hampered by these gloves when flexing your fingers or similar.

This material also allows you to get a good grip on anything that you pick up, so you will easily be able to hold a rod whilst playing a fish or use a landing net on freezing winter mornings – and if you do suddenly need your hands completely free, then they are very easy to take off.

The extended gauntlet cuffs of these mittens are crucial for sealing out snow and draughts, and bridging the gap between your jacket and gloves.

When you aren’t wearing them, they can be clipped together using the retaining clip, which makes them easy to hang up, as well as keeping them together and making both mittens easy to locate, such as if storing them in a rucksack or barrow bag.

What are the Korda Polar Mittens Dark Olive made from?

We’ve used a mixture of 90% Nylon and 10% Spandex for the outer shell, as it is water resistant as well as having enough stretch to provide freedom of movement.

The reinforced segments on the palm and fingertip sections are made from50% polyurethane and 50% polyester, which is incredibly durable whilst also providing enough flexibility to retain plenty of feeling and ease of movement. The lining is 100% polyester.

The Polar Mittens are available in a discreet dark olive and black colour, so will nicely match the rest of your Korda clothing, and come in two different sizes to fit anyone, S/M or L/XL.

These mittens are also suitable for various other winter activities, including walking the dog and outdoor sports.
