Korda Compac Carp Fishing Chair

For most types of fishing, having something to sit on whilst you’re doing it is an essential part of the kit that you take with you.

When it comes to carp fishing, you will often have your bed chair set up in your bivvy, but sitting on that for an extended period of time can be uncomfortable, not to mention bad for your back due to your posture.

Many anglers like to take some sort of carp chair with them on a fishing trip, as well as a bedchair, which can be used to sit around outside, such as when watching the lake, eating, or socialising with friends on the bank – it also makes a good guest seat if someone is in your swim.

Of course, there are also plenty of anglers who fish shorter sessions and don’t stay overnight, so a fishing chair is an essential part of their kit.

Korda designed the Compac Low Chair to be the perfect solution for anyone looking for a fishing chair, and included all of the features that we think one needs to have in order to be as comfortable and practical as possible, whether just going for a few hours in the evening, or taking it on a longer session.

Compact and lightweight

Weight is obviously an important consideration when it comes to fishing chairs, especially as it is something you are taking in addition to your bedchair, or might actually have to carry rather than having it on the barrow if doing a short session.

The lightweight frame that we have used weighs just 3.75kg, for the whole chair, and it was also important to use to design a fishing chair that folds up as neatly and compactly as possible.

The concertina style design means that you can literally just pick the chair up and give it a little shake and it will open up, but when folded away it has a very compact and small profile, making it easy to fit on your barrow or store in the back of your bivvy when not in use.

Strong

Although the frame is made from a lightweight material it is still very strong and has been built to last, as well as being extensively tested before release to identify any potential weak spots and to change them, so that you can be sure that during normal use it won’t let you down.

The fabric used to make the seat is also very tough, being made from 600D material which is able to withstand the rigours of constant use out on the bank and being in contact with the frame of the chair, both when in use and also folded, and won’t easily wear.

As well as being tough and durable, the fabric is also waterproof, which means that if you do happen to leave your Compac Low Chair out overnight and it gets wet from rain, then it will dry much faster than a fabric that actually absorbs water and gets soaked through. Its comes in a choice of olive green or Dark Kamo, so you can match it to the rest of your Compac luggage if you wish to.

Comfortable and with arm rests

This is designed as a low chair, so the whole point of it is that you are sat low to the ground, but in a way that is very comfortable and where it is still easy to get up when you need to.

The back of the chair has a fixed amount of recline, which has been chosen so that it feels comfortable when sat with your legs stretched out, and the seat of the chair is at the right angle to make this a very comfortable way to sit, even for prolonged periods of time.

Whilst the back of the chair can’t be adjusted, the front legs can be, and by raising them you can make the chair tilt back further, if you wish to recline more whilst sitting in it.

These adjustable legs have an almost infinite range of adjustment as well, so you can always get it level even when on uneven ground, allowing you to sit back and relax whilst you wait to catch something. The large, swivelling mud feet also help with this and mean that the chair can be used on any type of ground, with the feet being stable and also won't sink into softer ground whilst you're sitting on it.

The fabric is also durable enough that it won’t easily start to sag even after prolonged use, and offers enough support that you won’t feel the metal frame through it – which can be a big issue when chair seats start to sag.

It also has some padding around the area at the top of the back of the chair, to make it even more comfortable in the place where there is pressure on your back/shoulders whilst sitting in it, plus padded armrests.
