How far can you cast with a 10ft Kaizen Green rod?
Even the models designed for shorter range casting can still put a lead incredible distances!
If you’re looking to fish at extreme distances, then you go out and buy yourself a rod as long as you are comfortable using, and of a high test curve.
It might take some practice, but if you get the hang of the technique required to get the most out of a 12ft or 13ft rod, depending on what you can handle – or even a 12ft 6in. model, which suits some people best – then you will consistently be able to cast your rigs incredible distances, and with accuracy.

Obviously, we have rods within the Kaizen Green range – or Kaizen Platinum if you are looking for the ultimate, top-end fishing rod built using the best materials and fittings – that are designed primarily for fishing at long range, such as the 12ft 4lb, 12ft 6in. 4lb, and 13ft 4lb models, which are capable of putting a rig ridiculous distances.
These heavier test curve models are also great when trying to chuck solid PVA bags a long way as well, as they have lots of power and an action to really punch them out.
Plus 12ft and 13ft spod rods - which can also double up as marker rods - to allow you to bait up around your rig, and find spots.

How far can you cast with 10ft Kaizen Green carp fishing rods?
One thing we do often get asked though, is how far is it possible to cast with the 10ft rods in the Kaizen Green range?

People who are looking to fish at long range all the time aren’t going to go out and buy a set of 10ft rods, as these will never cast as far as a longer rod, but the anglers who are mainly fishing in situations where a shorter rod is advantageous – such as on smaller waters; in very tight swims; or where a lot of it involves dropping rigs and playing fish from a boat – are still curious as to what their set of shorter rods is actually capable of.
Forty wraps with a 10ft 3lb Kaizen Green rod!
During the recent Dovey vs Spooner Big Carp Road Trip – which you can watch in full HERE – they travelled to South Africa and attended a weekend event that was all about showcasing the Kaizen Green range and letting the public have a go with the rods.
During the event, one of the local Korda South Africa anglers, Adriaan van der Merwe, picked up a 10ft 3lb model to see what distance could be achieved with it.
Using a reel loaded with 10lb Korda Carp Line, a 30lb braided shockleader, and a 3oz lead, he managed to hit the clip at an incredible 40 wraps! Obviously a rig and a bait would cut down that distance, but for demonstration (and safety) purposes they just used a lead.
Dovey, who is no stranger to casting a very long way, also had a go and just about managed to hit the clip.
Which shows what these 10ft rods are capable if you suddenly find yourself in a situation where you do need to cast, and don’t have a longer set of rods with you!

What sort of fishing are the 10ft Korda Kaizen Green rods built for?
The 10ft Kaizen Green models are perfect for any venue where you are generally going to be casting at shorter ranges, or even dropping your rigs into position off of the rod tip, either from a boat or the bank, and where a shorter rod offers and advantage.

They can also feel far more manageable to newcomers to the sport, and especially youngsters, as compared to a 12ft or 13ft, and are perfect for use on smaller lakes, canals, or even rivers, when fishing from the bank.
The shorter length means that you can fish in tighter swims and don’t need as much overhead clearance when casting, plus they are great for flicking rigs out, or even stalking as they make accessing tight spots easier than with a longer rod.

The three 10ft models in the range – 3lb, 3.5lb, and 4lb test curve – are also very popular with anglers fishing from a boat, both in the UK and abroad, and there is even a model for the European market that has tougher ceramic inserts and makes it ideal for use with braided lines.
A shorter rod makes things much easier when lowering your rig onto the spot and of course when playing fish and landing them from the boat.
The blanks are still built using a fast taper mandrel, for a progressive taper from butt to tip, and with most of the flex being near the tip of the rod.
This means that the 10ft rods have a nice playing action, but with plenty of power further down in reserve if needed - even the 4lb model will still bend nicely when you hook a carp.

The high grade carbon used, even on the Kaizen Green models, is lightweight and makes it very easy to transfer power through the blank when casting, and minimal twist in the blank, even under extreme pressure, helps to improve accuracy, plus gives the rod a faster recovery.
The Kaizen Green rods also look the part, with a minimal custom look that includes a DPS style reel seat, 50mm butt guide, and a Japanese shrink wrap handle with a flared end and logo'd butt cap, which allows for a good grip even in wet conditions.
Casting expert Terry Edmonds shows what the 10ft carp rods are capable of
To find out just how far the 10ft rods are capable of casting in the right hands, we sent tournament casting expert, Terry Edmonds, out with the 10ft 4lb model to see exactly what it can do.
In order to make his test realistic to a fishing situation, he matched the rod up with a big pit reel loaded with Long Chuck Tapered main line, plus a 4oz lead and a baited rig – so basically a set up that you could actually fish with and land carp on.
Despite the fact that he was casting into a fairly strong head wind, Terry still managed an incredible 33 wraps – casting from his swim during a fishing session – or 132 yards!
