How To Set Up A Adjustable Zig Rig

The adjustable zig is a great choice all year round, allowing you to reach different depths with just one cast. One angler who has taken full advantage of their versatility is Neil Spoons who has caught Mirror Carp up to 39lb 14oz and Commons up to 42lb 8oz! Here are the necessary elements and an overview of how Neil likes to use them in his angling.

1.     Take a long length (1.5m) of 8lb Kruiser Mono and make a small loop to form the hair.

1. Now take a size 8 Kamakura Choddy hook, and keeping the hair short, tie a knotless knot. Pull down at the tip, then make two turns up towards the eyelet, which prevents the knot from coming undone once it is tight.

1. Once the knotless knot is complete, place the hook through the ring of your rod and measure up to the reel and make a loop in a figure 8.

1. Now take your adjustable Zig kit, thread the rod on the main line, then the float, then attach the size 11 QC swivel and pull it inside the float.

1. Thread an anti-tangle sleeve over the section, attach the loop to the QC swivel. Then pull the anti-tangle sleeve on the swivel so that the assembly is in place. Now it's time to add your bait.

1. Neil's favorite bait is a piece of black moss that has been dipped in Goo Pineapple.

1. Once the bait is set, locate the target on the float and place the hook there. Then take PVA tape and, using a few knots, attach the hook to the float.
