Norton Disney Turner's Lake Essential Tips

Korda Koach Rob Burgess, has been fishing the Norton complex since it first opened and has built up a wealth of knowledge on the complex. He specialises in helping others get the most from the sessions and here, we asked him his top tips for Turners Lake.

Turners Lake - Beautifully set around the surrounding pine trees.

Turners lake is 18 acres, with about 950 carp to over 40lb with a nice back up of 30lb’ers and hundreds of 20s.

As it is a relatively long lake, the carp tend to hold at the ends of the lake, with pegs 1, 8, 9 and 16 the most consistent swims to try. From experience, pegs 4 and 5 come into their own in the spring, as these pegs cover slightly shallower water, so this zone is often the first area to warm up and can be great for a bite on those first sunny days of spring. During the spring, peg 7’s margin can be really good fishing, so this area should not be neglected.

Tactically, there are no major features on Turners, so I like to use bait as my pulling tool, certainly in pegs 8 and 9 where you have consistent depths. Having a mix that’s going to stand out and act as your feature is going to draw carp in.

Sweetcorn, chopped boilie and flaked maize are Norton favourites, nice visual baits to make it stand out in the deep water. Adding plenty of Smart Liquid will help draw the carp down and create an irresistible haze on your spot.

Yellow and pink hookbaits on spinner rigs have worked really well for me, as have solid bags, filled with micro pellet.

During the winter, small tight patches of bait would be my go to, with fresh hemp and crumbed cell a winning mix.
