Chris Ball is renowned for being one of the most informed carp fishing historians around today. Since the late 1980s, he's written countless articles and had numerous books published on the subject. His most recent book is titled Historical Carp Waters II, detailing famous captures from historic carp waters. Other notable books of Chris's include King Carp Waters and A Century of Carp Fishing.

Along with his feverish obsession for carp fishing history, he's been catching carp from some country's leading and most historic venues since the 1960s.

Chris is known to prefer a traditional style of carp angling, particularly floater fishing. Some notable floater captures include Shoulders from Longfield and Olive from Wraysbury One.

In 1994, Chris founded Carp-Talk along with Kevin Clifford and Tim Paisley. This Magazine was the sport's first weekly publication, supplying the carp fishing community with all the latest news and stories until sadly ending production in 2018.
