Carp fishing Dr Mark Wheeler from iCarp is an award winning psychologist who works on a research project, exploring the mental health benefits of taking groups of military veterans with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) away on carp fishing trips.

Mark set up the Angling Institute of Countryside and Angling Research Projects (iCARP) alongside his colleague, Dr Nick Cooper, after discovering that fishing could substantially help alleviate the symptoms of the disorder and improve mental health.

They now run regular fishing trips both in the U.K and Europe for military veterans as part of the iCarp programme with the support of us here at Korda Developments.

In this podcast host Simon Pitt speaks to Mark and Steve “Johno” Johnston, a military veteran who served for 22 years. His experiences during combat subsequently lead to him being diagnosed with PTSD and the guys discuss how carp fishing along with iCarp have, literally, saved his life.

An amazing podcast that explores mental health, the benefits of carp fishing, our military and also touches upon the effect of isolation… a subject very current with the Cover 19 pandemic.
