13: PLATINUM FOR EVERYDAY FISHING
Whilst it is very much the case that the Kaizen Platinum range has been developed to offer the ultimate in performance when it comes to carp fishing rods, and to push that to the extreme.
We also realise that there are plenty of anglers out there who aren’t looking to fish at 45 wraps all the time, and rather are looking for a set of rods that are going to feel really nice to use, as well as looking the part as well – much like if you buy a supercar, most of the time you won’t be utilising all of its power on a track, but you’ll still love driving it and enjoy its performance even on the road!
Kaizen Platinum isn't just about distance casting
So, whilst the Kaizen Platinum rods will push things to the limit in terms of casting distance, they are just as much at home down at your local club lake or syndicate being used to catch fish at shorter range.
Even if you go for one of the higher test curve models that can thump a lead out accurately towards the far bank, you will still notice how well it performs and how nice it is to use, even when not utilising all of its power for casting, and plenty of our Team Korda anglers have one set of Kaizen Platinum rods which they use for all of their own fishing.
It is also important to remember that power in a rod isn’t all about casting, and that a heavier test curve, powerful carp rod can also make a big difference when fishing very weedy or snaggy lakes as well, where you are either having to extract fish from the weed, or pile on the pressure to keep them away for snags.
The Platinum rods will do that comfortably, whilst still retaining enough give in the tip that you can confidently lean into a carp and really pile on the pressure when you need to, without having to worry about pulling the hook, or even breaking your line, as there is enough cushioning, and give, there to absorb any sudden lunges the fish makes.
A very versatile range of rods for any angling situation
Even just in normal everyday use, you can focus on just enjoying playing the fish, knowing that the rod isn’t going to cause you to lose it after you’ve done all of the hard work.
The type of carbon used and the way it transfers power and is resistant to twist during a cast are important whatever range you are fishing at, and make it easier to cast accurately to your spot – so whether you are trying to hit the middle of the lake, or are flicking a rig under an overhanging tree at short range, you will feel the difference.
All of the Platinum rods have a very fast recovery as well when you cast, meaning that the rod tip doesn’t bounce for long, and this makes them feel really crisp to use, as well as not wasting energy.
Looks are also important
Performance is very important, but so are looks as well, as whilst that won’t help you to put more carp on the bank, there is no reason not to have nice things, and especially given the amount of time we spend out on the bank, and sat looking at our rods.
That is why we opted for a minimalist, custom built look to the Platinum range, as well as utilising top quality components throughout that match that, such as stainless steel trim and an etched butt cap made my JAG, both of which go very well with the low glare matt paint finish, and Japanese shrink grip handle. Capable of withstanding long term use out on the bank
These rods are durable as well and have been built to withstand the type of use you would expect out on the bank, and that includes the robust, lightweight Sea-Guide TDG rings, and a Fuji DPS reel seat that securely locks your reel in place and won’t come loose during use. For more information about the guides that we have chosen, have a read of Guide rings on Kaizen Platinum rods.
So whatever type of fishing you are doing, if you are looking for a very high end rod that is going to feel lovely to use and will do everything that you want it to, the Kaizen Platinum range is a great choice. Have a read of the Is Kaizen Platinum right for you? section.
