11: KAIZEN GREEN FOR NEW CARP ANGLERS
Part of our aim when creating the Kaizen Green range was to develop fishing rods that were not only affordable for newcomers to the sport, but would actually also deliver a very high level of performance, and were as easy and enjoyable as possible to use.
Kaizen Green is a great option for newcomers to the sport
For those just starting out in a new sport or hobby, they often don’t want to spend a fortune initially – and a set of high end rods is a major purchase decision – but at the same time, whilst you are still learning and getting to grips with it, you don’t want to be using equipment that actually makes the whole process harder and less enjoyable, rather than good fun like it is supposed to be.
Having the right type of carp rod plays a big part in that, given that two of the biggest things in our sport are casting and playing fish, so you want a set of rods that will do both very well, but without breaking the bank.
Kaizen Green offers a very high level of performance for the money
The level of performance that the Kaizen Green range of carp rods offers definitely meets that goal, and it is something that Danny Fairbrass is passionate about, and was part of what inspired these rods in the first place.
Anybody can pick up a rod from the Green range and get a high level of performance from it, without having to be a highly experienced caster or having been playing carp for years. As long as you are able to cast, you will be able to achieve a good distance with these rods, and with a bit of practice and time spent on the bank, that will quickly improve.
We also wanted the rods to have an action that was very forgiving -especially as many more affordable rods have a horrible action that not only makes it hard to utilise their power when casting, but actively contributes towards fish losses – so if you do make a small mistake when the fish is under the rod tip, you aren’t going to pull the hook out and the rod is able to absorb that.
The power of the Greens is easily accessible
The fast taper action that all of the rods have – the exact action in terms of stiffness and power varies depending on the test curve – means that their power can be accessed very easy during the cast and they are very efficient at transferring that to your lead, and doing so in a way that will actually help you to caster straighter and more accurately, something that many newcomers struggle with.
This action also means that they bend nicely and are very forgiving in the tip, so are ideal for those who are still learning to play a carp and don’t have lots of experience of doing so, and therefore need something that will allow them to make a few small mistakes, without causing a hook pull or even line breakage.
Kaizen Green rods are robust with durable fittings
It was also important that the Kaizen Green rods were robust and able to withstand a certain level of abuse that can be expected on the bank – especially from carp anglers that are only just getting into the sport and might be prone to knocking the rod tip against an overhead tree, or putting it down on the ground in their excitement when they land a fish.
The carbon and resin used to manufacture the Green range makes them robust, and we deliberately chose some of the fittings to be more able to withstand a bit of normal abuse on the bank, and particularly the guides which are double legged and means they won’t bend over, as more fragile single leg rod rings can do, and also have a tough ADAMAN lining that isn’t going to crack or shatter if you do happen to accidentally knock the guide against something hard. They also look the part as well, with a custom look finish to them.
A popular choice even with the Team Korda anglers
At the same time, these rods have the sort of performance level that means that means that you will still happily be using them years later – some of our Team Korda anglers choose to use the Green rods rather than our much more expensive flagship range. Read more at Is Kaizen Green right for you?
